Itinerary and highlights
Upon arrival at Puerto del Chaco, you'll have 30 to 40 minutes to enjoy breakfast on your own and use the restrooms. It's the perfect time to relax, savor a local coffee overlooking the sea, and prepare for the start of your excursion. Afterward, we'll head to the pier to embark on a fascinating trip to the Ballestas Islands, renowned for their stunning marine biodiversity and rock formations sculpted by the wind and sea.
During the boat tour, you'll have the opportunity to observe colonies of sea lions basking on the rocks, as well as pelicans, boobies, seagulls, and other migratory birds that fill the coastal sky with life and color. Along the way, you'll also admire the famous Candelabro geoglyph of Paracas, an enigmatic figure carved into the sand that has intrigued explorers and scientists for centuries. This boat trip, which lasts approximately an hour and a half, will provide unique opportunities for photography and enjoy direct contact with nature.
In the afternoon, the adventure continues at the legendary Huacachina Oasis, a place surrounded by enormous dunes that create a dreamlike landscape in the middle of the desert. Here, you'll experience an adrenaline rush as you hop into buggies and race across the tallest dunes in the country. This buggy activity is a shared service, as the vehicles operate in shifts with the local operator. Afterward, you can try sandboarding, gliding down the sand and feeling the thrill of this unique activity in Peru. If you have professional snowboarding experience, you can request a professional sandboard in advance for an additional $15 per person, which will further enhance the experience.
